Mirror, Mirror

Out in Baltimore last week the Shore Leave convention was host to some panels on forthcoming Star Trek fiction, and among the things discussed there was new information about releases in 2008...

After the huge success of the Star Trek Mirror Universe duology this year, a new anthology of short fiction set in the parallel Trek reality as seen in the original series episode "Mirror, Mirror" will be published in April '08.

Star Trek Mirror Universe: Shards and Shadows features a dozen or so tales, and I've written one of them, a story of lost honour and risky endeavour called "The Black Flag".

Also given the official word are the titles for the Deep Space Nine prequel trilogy Terok Nor, of which I've written the first volume.

Book one - Star Trek Terok Nor: Day of the Vipers - will also be published in April; book two - Star Trek Terok Nor: Night of the Wolves - and book three - Star Trek Terok Nor: Dawn of the Eagles - are written by S.D. Perry and Britta Dennison, and planned for May and June releases respectively.

Hey, awesome news! :) KRAD, Christopher Bennett, and myself will be in that anthology too. Glad to hear we'll be sharing a book.

Cool. I'm really stoked about doing something in the MU - "Mirror, Mirror" is one of my fave eps of Classic Trek.

I'll warn you now, though. No Garak in mine (aside from one very oblique mention).

That'd be a bit tough, 'cos the story's full of Cardassians and Bajorans. But I do give nods to all my Trekker homies in the acknowlegements...

I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to these. And your Who novel too. Are you as excited to be a part of the new Who as we are to be reading/watching it? Not to mention this incredible modern age of Trek novels that have just been through the roof.

Thanks, Jon. I've enjoyed Doctor Who since the Tom Baker era (can't really grow up an SF fan in the UK without having some Whovian in ya) and Peacemaker's my first DW novel, although I've done short stories and audios in the 'classic' Who era. It's a very different dynamic, but I've had a lot of fun writing it.
